How To Feel Fab In Your Busy Life

How To Feel Fab In Your Busy Life

~Guest Post from Amy Mia Goldsmith of highstylife.com ~

Sometimes, we look at our own life and the whole thing seems overwhelming. With errands and exhaustion following us at every step, it’s tough to really feel anything other than weary and a little unimpressive as we walk through the day with chores, rather than fashion on our mind. However, self-care is one of the defining foundations of good mental and physical health, and feeling fabulous in our own skin plays a large role in both how we look at the world and how we let it treat us. If you’re looking for ways to look and feel better despite all the business, it’s important that you know these tips.

Make an Emergency Kit

Look, sometimes you just need to close yourself in your room and have a full-on, unrestrained, ugly cry. Cry, let it out, and then reach for your emergency snuggle kit. What’s in it? Chocolate, bunny slippers, nail polish, scented candles, and a romance novel. Now, take a shower, light your scented candle to fill the room with a sweet scent, and eat your chocolate.

Then, take that nail polish and paint your toenails. It’s soothing because it gives you something to do with your hands, it’s minimal effort, and it makes your feet look pretty. Let it dry, then put your feet in the comfy bunny slippers, grab your book, and let the cheesy romance with the hot male hero cheer you up. It’s important to know when to take a pause and say “Wait, this is getting the best of me and I need to recuperate before I continue.”

Working Out For the Busy Gals

Hitting the gym a few times a week is really great, but it requires time that you might lack. However, our physical health is too important to ignore it, and a fitness routine is a great way to release endorphins and feel great. To help you squeeze in a workout, we actually recommend that you exercise every single day. Yes, it sounds illogical, but hear us out: a 30-minute exercise every day is a lot easier to fit into a schedule than two hours a few times a week that it takes you to get to the gym, work out, and then go back home. In fact, if you’re really tired and impossibly busy, work out for ten minutes. It doesn’t matter, just stay consistent because a) a little exercise is better than no exercise, and b) it creates a habit and a routine that’s easy to get back to.

Self-Confidence Through Beauty

We all have those days when we feel yucky and cranky and the reflection in the mirror doesn’t exactly thrill us. For those days, some beautification can actually go a long way in making you feel better and reminding you of your own beauty. And it doesn’t need to be anything complicated: You just need some dry shampoo, some mascara, and a good concealer to brighten the undereye area and hide spots. The last step is lipstick – pick a nude shade or something bold and red. Once you put lipstick on, you’ll look and feel a lot better.

Nap Like a Pro

A good, effective nap is actually a very short thing. 10-20 minutes of shuteye can do wonders for your energy levels, and it’s actually a lot better for you than long naps where your body enters the REM phase and isn’t all that thrilled when you awaken. Shorter naps where you get to just rest your eyes are great because you’ll avoid feeling groggy after them.

Meal Prep

Don’t rely on the vending machine at work for snacks and meals! Good nutrition is really important to look and feel good, so instead of high-calorie greasy snacks, try prepping your meals in advance to make sure you have a healthy lunch each day.

And always remember to put yourself first, at least occasionally. You can’t help anyone if you’re constantly stressed and exhausted, so develop self-care rituals and always be kind and sweet to yourself because you’re strong and amazing.
